Jemuel brought a chicken’s heart yesterday for Biology, still wet and bloody wrapped in a bundle of tissue paper. Biology was the period after recess, thus resulted my friends and I smelling putrid blood during the classes before it *pukes and vomits*. Miss Dayang informed each group to bring goat’s heart for an experiment regarding Chapter 1: The structure of the heart, but where on earth are we going to obtain a goat’s heart?? There are 2 option, one was to sneak into Alice Jong’s house to get a goat and wrecked its heart out (her dad is some sort of farm animal dealer) or to waste our pocket money and get a goat just for the heart. Obviously both methods appeared to be meaningless and stupid… so we decided to replace a goat with a chicken’s heart (doesn’t make much difference since both animals have a heart, LOL)
The ventricles of the heart were cut from the bottom into 2 halves horizontally. The heart was cut along from the left to the right and I honestly tell you the job of cutting the walls of the atria wasn’t an easy work. Next, we have to cut the atria into 2 halves to observe the bicuspid and tricuspid valves and the ventral halves of the atria were removed. The aorta was sliced open in order to identify the semi-lunar valves. After the dissection was complete, I grabbed this golden opportunity and did a little incision or “experimenting” the heart by my own. I appeared akin to a zealous-mad scientist slashing and gashing while scrutinizing the specimen.
