'Helpful' Neighbours

Random green antique car that caught my attention while waiting for my cousin at SMK Batu Lintang

I mentioned about the slight problem which turned into a botheration on my mum's car at my previous post. Let me stretch into the details by inserting several characters - my neighbours.

Honestly I always thought that my neighbours were awesome people. Kind, helpful and generous if judged by their appearance and noble occupations they own. Neighbour X is a police officer while neighbour Y is a secondary school principal. The pre-existing profound quote that goes on reverberating in my ear " Do not judge a book by it's cover " apparently proves to be exactly accurate. Truth till the every bit.

Mum's vehicle broke down yesterday just when she was about to pick me from class, alarms were on madly and it wouldn't stop despite experimenting various buttons in the car. Soon after, the engine eventually died off leaving the vehicle motionless unable to work.

It caught the neighbours attention of course and trust me they did lend their helping hand... charitably and generously helpful when mum needed help the most.

Neighbour X : This one confirmed is because of 2 things, I can guarantee you it's because of these 2 things only. Nothing more than these 2 things [ as he went on mentioning about 'these 2 things' repetitively. ] First it must be your car battery! It has to be your car battery!!! Then second it's because your car has not been sent for servicing. I can confirmed you it must be....

He just went on blabbering repetitiously about these 2 things and mind you, he didn't even bother to examine mum's vehicle meticulously and came up with his conclusions.

Neighbour Y : *Glanced and smiled... finally went back to his house*

What sort of principal are you?? He just glanced and smiled, showing no concern or whatsoever &%*$# !!!

I'll try to be "The Best Neighbour" from now onwards. ^__^

Cake & More

I tried out this butter cheese cake from some bakery near St. Thomas' Cathedral today. It wasn't any renown cake shop like Secret Recipe but a swarm of working people in office wear rushing and entering the bakery, buying the similar cake caught my attention. Thus, I decided to give it a try. It's not cheese but for a simple butter cake for a fairly cheap price, it deserved a thumbs up.

My lecturer decided to do a "celebrity press conference", instead of the typical individual or group oral sessions, it was our turn to imagine her as some famous celebrity and asked her questions like most paparazzi do storming through some celebrity. It was amusingly entertaining I would say.

We also did a presentation based on a picture of your choice, and I chose to do a description about my family and not forgetting, my cat of course.

I ordered my all time favourite Cantonese noodles from a hawker stall at Hui Sing after class. It reminded me that I have been his loyal customer since I attended Chemistry tuition class during form 4 till now. He serves the best noodles and Hokkien food I believe so.

Mum called and told me that her car wouldn't start because there was a slight problem with the car battery, Bummer!!! After waiting 'patiently' at the coffee shop for an hour plus my uncle went to pick me home. I even managed to randomly sketch some anime for an entire hour.; am I fully utilizing my time or what?!

Came across this Ah Beng who wore this simple white tee with some message " I LOVE MALAYSIA!! " together with his Ah Lien girlfriend with another checked-pattern shirt with a glitter message " I AM HOT!! KISS ME!! "

Smucker's

I found my new crave on food - Smucker's !

It has the best jams, jelly & peanut butter. My simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I made almost every night for supper won't be 'as simple' as before, it's now 'smuckered'. Notice the ‘SUGAR FREE’ label? I can ensure than I won’t even get diabetes for this.

The J.M Smucker Co just made my supper better and better.

Side note: Ling Ying finally came back from Matriculation and I finally managed to hang out with at her place for an entire night, did a little catching up with Yew Peng as well. I find talking with a close friend like her very fruitful and productive, for me… the hardship and obstacles faced in Matriculation is beyond human kind. A ‘rich’ conversation and a bar of Toblerone from my dear friend.

Sushi

I was dozing off, catching up some zzz's until an outburst of cacophony woke me up abruptly at an approximate 10AM. Agitated, I realised the source was from Kimmy's blaring piano. It wasn't any calming, soothing lullaby but instead my ear drums were brutally attacked by boisterous, blatant musical notes from some random piano song. Nevertheless, I woke up getting all grumpy and cranky.

Spending big bucks for scrumptious sushi isn’t just a quirky Japanese tradition any more, and lovers of fish in the raw are opening their wallets for a sampling of melt-in-your-mouth heaven—a slice of what sushi is really all about. Thus, my cousin and I decided to make sushi for today.

We had rice vinegar, cucumber, tuna and of course rice as the main ingredients for it. Overall, a simply dash of wasabi and soy sauce made it all perfect. Who says we need Sushi King to alleviate the craving for sushi?

Swing

Russian classes were still in progress, apart from disliking spelling quiz, oral session was getting relaxing and cinching. Jacqueline’s spoken Russian was incredibly fluent, and did I mentioned her prodigious reading skills? Which makes mine a mile step behind her.

Class ended at 5PM as usual, I decided to take a breeze walk with my cousin at a nearby park. Luckily most of the dogs around the neighbourhood wasn’t all lunatic and monstrous, however some chained canines were just brainless, diabolical killing machines; it gave me the creeps for a second.

There was a playground and off my cousin and I went to hog the swings; hogging swings were our dexterities of course.

We wore flip flops while everyone else in the park was jogging in sports shoes. We had no intention to exercise or whatsoever, thus kicked away the shoes and in went our flip flops.

In serenity, the air that was originally clean and fresh was severely polluted since there was some fogging around Tabuan Jaya area. Nevertheless, these coconut trees reminded me of Damai beach.

This was what I drove to the park, my personal brand new Mini Cooper S

Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince

My cousin and I went to watch the most anticipated movie - Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince last Sunday. We headed to Star Cineplex right after church service to book tickets and of course to hog better seats for the movie. Luck was one our side and we managed to get hall 3.

I casted the forbidden ‘Avada Kedabra’ curse in the lift on the way to the 9th floor and got myself beheaded. I think Vainny was fully utilizing the wide mirrors to camwhore as well.

I ordered cappuccino with a fairly cheap price of RM2.50 and some cheese sticks from a nearby bakery for breakfast. It was not that filling but just adequate to temporarily ease my growling stomach.

We headed to McDonald’s for lunch, had Fillet-O-Fish since it was the only burger other than Big Mac. Then came an anonymous guy with his Dell laptop, and his wallpaper was a picture of an overly botox-ed and fake tanned lady a.k.a Megan Fox posing seductively on a motorcycle.

Did I mention I helped 2 lost Caucasians find their way to Coffee Bean in front Riverside ? Yeah.. I pointed towards Coffee Bean. ^__^V I did a good deed on Sunday.

There was a real live Rapunzel at the cinema. Forgive me for my stalking binge, I just find people from all walks of life rather… interesting at times. Who cares about Ah Liens, Ah Bengs and Punk wannabes… There is a real live Rapunzel!!! There was also this despicable irritating biatch who couldn’t keep her mouth shut during the entire movie, she was practically ‘discussing’ in Malay with her friend !!!! I swear I could just bleached her entire lips in order to shut her up. Of course, those who haven’t read the book will point accusing fingers that Professor Snape who killed Dumbledore as the villain.

I got myself this tribal bracelet while shopping for Kevin’s and Kimberly’s birthday presents, I must admit that I am distracted easily. After a long search my cousin and I bought 2 RUSS key chains for them.

The movie deserved a 7/10, it did not deviant much from the story book I owned. I’m anticipating for the final movie in this spell bounding Harry Potter movie series.

English > BM

I'm still perplexed and shocked that the Cabinet has decided that the medium of instruction for Math and Science will be reverted back to Bahasa Malaysia in national schools and mother-tongue languages in national-type schools from 2012 onwards. This reversal is indeed deeply disappointing and it would not be an exaggeration if I claim such choice to be... lunatic and all bonkers.

They claimed that “The gap between rural and urban students has widened since PPSMI started." Personally, that would not be a logical reason to abolish PPSMI after only 6 short years of implementation. Asked whether the government was wasting billions of ringgit abolishing PPSMI? They claimed that the government did not want the policy to fail to meet its objective after spending so much money. Now THAT is what I call double jeopardy.

Despite the fact that many studies and researches had been conducted before making such drastic decisions, don't you think it's evident that the pros outweighs the minute problems that could be ironed out over a period of time?

They are many changes in store to neutralise the after effects of such... tragic. Doubling time needed for English lessons for primary school level, introduction of English literature for upper primary school as well as re-introducing literature for secondary schools. At the same time, Malay-language curriculum would focus on the appreciation of the Malay literature as well as bolstering the students' skills in grammar, reading, listening, writing, speaking and the overall command of the language.

They are reverting back to from English medium to Malay claiming that it could not be implemented as desired after scrutinizing after various outcomes, YET more protocols are suggested to polish and appreciate Malay language; the irony.

Students are treated like laboratory mice, being experimented over and over again. Soon, everything will be overactive and finally cause an explosion. The government has done it again! Initially it was scholarship issue, now this… I wonder what’s next on the list?

On a brighter note, Dr. Mahathir is sane enough to create a poll on his blog based on this issue. Based on the results, 13830 [14%] supported the government's decision to teach science and math in BM while 86324 [86%] ... INTELLIGENT, RATIONAL ones didn't!

To those '13830 Malaysians' out there, YOU SUCK!!!

Bored: Blue

This is exactly what you should do when you find yourself bored and suffering from insomnia due to steamy weather despite the fact that the wretched air-conditioner was switched on, and stuck with nothing but a ball that glows in dark [ battery operated of course ].

Like.. How could that possibly happened you asked? You'll never know.

  • Grab the battery operated ball and switched it on
  • make sure lights are all off
  • Find someone who is retarded to swing the ball like some cow with mad cow disease
  • Snap some pictures when it swings in the dark without flash mode of course and..

TADA!!!

You’ll get some blue strokes in the dark. Uber cool!

I was with Kimmy, thus... her extreme level of retarded-ness is contagious

Current Scraps

Lessons

Foreign language classes have been fun. Initially it was all amply boring, meek, dull and monotonous. Absorbing in every ounce of a totally new language is akin to a baby learning how to talk. Some alphabets in Russian are similar to English but with a totally different pronunciation and meaning. For example: ‘m’ in Russian will be the regular ‘t’ in English, ‘n’ in Russian is actually ‘p’ in English.

I consider Russian Language slightly confusing and of course tongue twisting; it is impossible to develop and entire Russian accent considering the fact that most of us are bonded with our English or Chinese accent. It can be all comical and amusing.

Catching-up

No doubt that it is very difficult for everyone to be connected like we used to be. Different universities, different courses, different lifestyle, different surroundings. I had lunch at Sushi King with Chiaw Chin, a former classmate of mine in primary school but moved to Miri after primary 6, she’s currently doing her A-Levels in UCSI in Kuching thus giving me some time to catch up with her. It was rather ironic... she hates wasabi and raw food but our lunch was actually sushi.

Number of people appearing online on MSN has decreased to half, gasping for air and buried alive by assignments I supposed. Even a simple text message takes aeons for people to reply.

Attempts

I am cognizant that I have literally loss my skills in drawing. A simple 2B pencil can be twisting, wiggling, swirling between my fingers, yet inspirations only summed up to an empty paper. Dexterity shrinkage.

The Rubik’s Cube is a toy that I’m a noob at, I can only solve a single side or if lucky... maybe 2. Proves that I have a brain lodged between a genius and a dimwit – moderate. I think Google will aid in solving a Rubik’s Cube? Or maybe Youtube? I will attempt to resolve it soon.

Entertainment

Managed to get a myriad of movies to kill some time; watched 17 Again, Street Fighter The Movie, Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li, She’s Just Not Into You and Naruto Shippuden movies. PPS streaming to update myself with Naruto Shippuden, Avatar The Last Air Bender and various Hong Kong soup operas. I socialise with a laptop more than human beings.

'Theory Of A Deadman' is currently the most listened album in my playlist. One of the Jon-Ass Brothers is getting engaged; Michael Jackson’s death associated with a murder case; entertainment news adds up flickers and sparks to mundane life.

Departure

Friends leaving again this week, mostly stepping into teaching course. Reminds me when I dumped my chance for PPC by not submitting my photo on purpose; amusing. Angelina leaving this Thursday to Curtin University; didn't managed to have a farewell dinner with her [ the past proves that it's expected ]

Feeling all neutral; 'Promises made, promises broken, expect a simple apology to dissolve everything? All bullshit'. Self-made quote that I recently digged up from my archetypal life.

Piri Piri Chicken

In the first place, I wanted to a simple Tori Teriyaki for dinner but I ordered Piri Piri Chicken insead. It was Seraphina's idea to have dinner at Sushi King after a day window shopping. A'la Carte sushi is restricted for the beggarly broke, thus.. set meal it shall be.

gross yellowish gooChawanmushi, some sort of an egg custard which was strongly recommended by Miss Angelina Tan, according to her supposed to be appetizing turned out to be awful. From a scale from 0 to 10, that cup of gross yellowish goo will be rated a -10. It has such an unpleasant taste that induces vomit if I had consumed the whole cup. Trust me, the taste was ravenously horrible after I ate 2 spoons out of it… I even sent her a text message to curse it. x]

The meal would be gastronomically scrumptious if it wasn't for the Chawanmushi.

I’m trying Sanma Kabayaki for the next time.

Food Fair & More

I realised that my blog posts normally go behind the actual date the event precisely occurred. I’ve always been a remarkable marked procrastinator. Let me reverse time and enlightened what had happened for the past 7 days. A little pepping up on this one-week-dead blog.

I decided to visit some food fair at St. Theresa secondary school; initially it was simply because I was helping out Andrea by buying 20 bucks coupon from her but since Lilian offered me a free 10 bucks coupon and it is obviously not reasonable for me to waste all 30 bucks I decided to visit the food fair with my cousin. I only managed to arrive at St. Theresa in the afternoon. Not much food left, punk wannabes were scattered all over; I was astounded when I saw a guy with Mohawk hair style; and even some girls with jackets. There was also an additional stall selling Malay clothes in the middle of a FOOD fair. Interesting as I concluded.

I had an ice-cream, a tin of aloe Vera tea, soya bean drink and lok-lok for lunch, there wasn’t much choices. Bumped into Andrea and even bought her a drink to finished up my last 3 bucks.

Strolled at The Spring with Vainny and met up with a couple of her friends, mostly my acquaintances. That was when my stalking dexterity operated to the utmost, he devious me was unleashed to do his evil duties.

An anonymous guy appeared to be one of the lucky survivor who survived a tragic war. His hair was a real manifestation of it. He has cool flip flops though.

Then there was an Ah Lien who wore a fluorescent pink miniskirt with bright blue leggings in Parkson carrying some shiny hand bag. Attention seeker.

I never knew that toys like beads were sold. Especially THIS ONE which is a one meter wide box with beads in it. How can the packaging be so bloody big???

Bumped into a bunch of secondary school students who went all lunatic and shouted “ Eeeee! Miley Cyrus! “ when they saw THAT! Miley Cyrus disease is worst than the current epidemic H1N1.

A super belated birthday wish to Stefan Lim (6th of July )

Song & More Departure

It has been a long night, I was trying my very best to keep my head balanced, emotions neutral. The fact is, it's been too much. How can a simple 'goodbye' be so strenuous to do, it sends happiness to a mourning valley and joy beneath the abyss. As I send my goodbye's to my friends one at a time, I stumble upon this song in the midst of the black and bleak night. It's 'The Climb by David Sides featuring Ahmir'.

Miley Cyrus' version is the exemplar of balderdashes. A singer with zero voice, dismaying as it sounds. Thankfully I found this piece. Coincidence much? God is watching over me and He knows everyone needs a remedy to ease away the gloom and forlorn.

As melancholy drifts the night, I felt a slight hope and motivation when I was listening and paying every minute attention to the lyrics, meticulously. It's a miracle.

There's always gotta be another mountain,
I'm always gonna wanna make it move,
Always gonna be another uphill ballte,
Sometimes I'm gonna have to loose.

Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side,
It's the climb.

This final week will really be a long 'goodbye'. Alicia headed to KLMU couple of days ago, Gabrielle left for Sunway University last Tuesday, Jonas headed to Shah Alam a week ago, Bryan finally decided to continue his dream at Limkokwing flew last Wednesday, Reginald leaving this Saturday, also best friend Wei Qi flying towards the land with the merlion, Jess & Debra settled down at Taylor's College and especially Amy whom I'll missed the most.. leaving today.

I can't believe it, but I really miss the barbarian so much.
