Kath's Obsession - Hamsters

I miraculously woke up at 8.40 am today despite my inadequate 6 hours of beauty sleep after chatting with Kath and Azureen last night. Mum and dad were off to school very early this morning since it was the day PMR results are out. First of all, congratulations to my dearest cousin Ivy who got straight A’s (7A)

Ever wonder how many hamsters can a normal average human being rare as a pet? Approximately 5 or to a maximum extend of 10 I would say. But, last night my friend Kath here told me that she has 31 hamsters as pets!!! I repeat…31 HAMSTERS!!! *Eyes rolls* *Blinks* I was struck by a ten thousand watt bolt of lightning. In addition to her so called insanity and lunacy, she even got each and every one of them named, which I honestly doubt that she remembers their name. Fancy remembering 31 names based on 31 hamsters that eventually possess similar features and colour? It’s a million times harder than memorising and gobbling up my form 5 History and Biology text book.
Here’s a compilation of Kath’s priceless collection edited by myself. It took me almost a century waiting for her to send me those photographs via MSN.

Doulos Visit

Dad brought me to visit “Doulos” ship today along with mummy and a whole flock of cousins (Seraphina, Kim and Engie) since the ship’s scheduled date is due on 3rd January 09. It would be a devastating tragedy if I’d miss it since it only visits Kuching every 7 years and this will be my forth time to pay “Doulos” a warm visit once more.

Kimmy got some hand art
Thanks a lot to Mother Nature, the weather is inevitably burning, scorching and blistering my pitiful epidermal cells. With two ravenously diabolical brats tagging along me and Seraphina, the situation is akin to placing a spoonful of salt on a wounded wound. No idea why typical irresponsible humans like me tend to point accusing fingers to Mother Nature for the tormenting weather, obviously its all men’s own overzealous attempts towards globalization. I shall leave this issue aside first. Nevertheless, I still pray to God for offering me patience. Surprisingly, I bumped into a few St. Theresa acquaintances which appeared to be my cousin’s friends – Azureen’s family.

I managed to get 3 books with a tremendously satisfying price of RM32.50

1. Persecution by David Limbaugh
2. A Classic Nativity Devotional compiled by James Stuart Bell
3. Inspirational Gold by various Christian authors

Here's a Christmas prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson

Loving Father, help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepards, and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good deisres with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessings which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children and Christmas evening brings us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus's sake.

Amen

You're happy to be in the company of people you love, and you're willing to "go with the flow."

Of all the types, you are the most likely to give someone exactly what they want.

You're also the most likely to wrap all your presents well - to prevent peeking!

Christmas Eve

I’m finally home from my long holiday, and it is once again all Christians throughout the world to celebrate a celebration filled with significance of the day Jesus Christ is born – Christmas. It is easy to get caught up in our lives in December. I don’t mean to be insensitive or selfish, but it is typical for us to be so overwhelmed by the holidays that we forget how painful this time of year can be for others who are suffering from illness and grieving. We're still in a world with all its suffering and ambiguity, all its division and inevitable injustice. To people from all walks of life out there, send a simple greeting or lend a helpful hand to those who are in need during this festive season and see what miracle God can do to the world.

Here’s my Christmas wish list to Santa:

PRICELESS
Loving family
Satisfying results for SPM
Promising future
Good health
Great friends who remember me

PRICEY
Iphone
Blackberry Storm
HTC Touch Pro
Ipod Touch

Spiritual Discipline: Prayer & Study (By Revd. Patrick Wong)

There is much to say about prayer, but in this section we will consider prayer as a spiritual discipline. Prayer, of course, is much more than a spiritual discipline; it is a life. Dallas Willard comments, “It would… be a rather low-voltage spiritual life in which prayer was chiefly undertaken as a discipline…” Still prayer is a very potent practice for opening our lives to God.

Why do we need to practise prayer as a discipline?
In our culture, it is because we have severely impaired attention spans. In prayer we attend our minds to God, and all too often that attention lasts for a few seconds. We begin our prayer with “Heavenly Father,” and it is not long before our minds are meandering off, attending to anything often than the One we began to address.

It is for this reason that we must undertake prayer as a spiritual discipline – to enable ourselves to attain the single-mindedness necessary to attend to God – who-is-present. It is also vital for us to understand that prayer, just as every other discipline, is a learning process. We will find ourselves distracted. We will notice our minds wandering among the countless concerns of the day. However, as we continue in the paths of prayer, our meanders will be shorter and less frequent.

Prayer is conversation or communication with God.
It involves both speaking and listening. So often we pray as if it were a monologue. But prayer is so much more than talking to God. In fact, the seasoned pray-er knows prayer is more about listening than talking. Soren Kierkegaard said, “A man prayed, and at first he taught that prayer was talking. But he became more and more quiet until in the end he realised that prayer is listening.” And this makes sense because God knows much more than we do – He knows it a whole lot better than we do.

Prayer is opening our lives to God for change.
Prayer is recognition that God is God and we are not, and so in prayer we yield our desires to God’s. Jesus prayed, “Not my will but yours.”

In prayer we ask God to change the way we see other people. When we look at other people, see in their faces the eyes of Christ, It is then that transformation happens. We serve others as if we were serving Jesus. We speak to others and listen to others as if we were speaking and listening to Jesus. This happens when we take seriously Jesus’ words. “Whatever you do to the best…you do it to me.”

We ask God to change the way we see ourselves. A prayer I have found to be frightening, but liberating is “Lord, shine your light on the dark-shadowed corners of my heart. Show me what I am hiding from you.”

In prayer, I invite God to come in and occupy the rooms in my heart that I have previously labelled, “Keep Out!” Then I must pay attention to the soft voice of the Spirit as he pints out my ‘restricted areas’. When I hear the spirit pointing out my impatience, I adjust my heart in gratitude for the time and opportunity God has given me. When I see the Spirit shedding light on my pride, I remember that it is only by God’s grace that I have this life.

Prayer is not complicated.
Prayer is not about saying the ‘right word’, but rather a right orientation of our entire being toward God. Prayers do not need to be flowery. Prayers like that are said either to impress others or to manipulate God. Instead, when Jesus taught his discipline to pray he told them to use simple, straightforward speech (Matthew 6:7, 7:7-11).

“Prayer is living,” Henri Nouwen says. Prayer is not something that is done only before meals or during church services. It is not limited to bowed heads, clasped hands and closed eyes.

Since praying is paying attention to God (listening, watching), we really can ‘pray without ceasing’ (1 Thess 5:17, Philippians 4:6). In whatever we do, we do it with te awareness that God is present. We can simply ask Him, “God, how would you like me to act in this situation?” or “God, how should I respond to that comment?”

Our prayers may be hours spent listening in silence and solitude. They may be momentary prayers for someone in a passing car. Our prayers may be spoken as we kneel at our bed before we got to sleep. They may be silently voice as we walk into a meeting. There are many paths of prayer, because paths of prayer are the paths of life.

To pray without ceasing means that wherever we go and in whatever we are doing, we go and do with the awareness of the always-present God. We listen for His take (view) on the world. We look at others and ourselves through His eyes. We ask God to show us what He is doing and how He would have us join in the process. In prayer God invites us to participate in His world and operate our lives in His way. As we practise this discipline, we will be able to see more clearly what God’s will is so that we will know how we should pray (Romans 12:1-2).

A 'Legendary' Post

I carry on my routine to blog for the day, I realised it would only be sheer monotony if this blog was about my lame and dull archetypal life. So, evolution is vital to bring my blog to another dimension. However, I will still post regarding my holidays. XP

Mercedes-Benz SLK...My Lover

First and foremost, it’s Lillian’s birthday today. So I’m wishing her a blessed Birthday!! (4th December) Btw…Thanks for inviting to the Youth Camp in Santubong but sorry I’m on vacation at that moment. I got Kay’s blog link and I’m in a middle of a minor debate with Kay on ‘who’s legendary’ LOL, frittering away precious time.

I had my father-to-son talk with my dad; I am cognizant that I am a grown adolescent despite of my unconvinced height. Dad wants me to get a job and get my driving license by next year, unless I enrol for January intake for A-levels. I am considering enrolling for January intake A-Levels, but it would be major problem since I can’t drive. By the way, I am still bearing in mind on which university to go for…locally in Kuching or West Malaysia? This issue seriously caused me a headache. I’ll be off for vacation from 7th till 23rd December to KL and Singapore, so dad thinks that it would be better to start taking driving lessons by January next year. Great~ I guess I’ll be the last form 5 student in the entire Malaysia to take up driving lessons so late. So I have to tag along with all my other friends outing with their vehicle *if you guys don’t mind, Hah!*

Aston Martin-Vanquish, truly beautiful

I went to Ling Ying’s place to get some DVDs, and a miracle happened!!! She’s actually working!!!! Fancy a nerd and bookish person like her working? It takes more than a miracle to happen. I’m planning to visit Chiaw Jen with Yew Peng and Shi Ying tomorrow , it has been almost 2 years I haven’t met her and honestly I surely miss her a lot.

Lamborghini is damn gorgeous

Vicky sent me a text message: “HONEY LET’S GO TO SINGAPORE TOGETHER!!!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHA… MISSED YOU LOTS!!!!!!!!” -_-“ Now, do not misunderstood our relationship, we only share an everlasting closed friendship. P.S: “Send me that type of flittering text messages again and I’ll be mutilated by your fans” I have to say that it’s risky to have ‘girl friends’ that have stunning looks. As a conclusion, Vicky is ‘toooooooo’ free to waste credit.

I kindda like this Mini Cooper, cute!

After dinner, I watched ‘High School Musical 3’ together with mum, I feel so outdated and I must catch up with all the latest movies by borrowing DVDs from people!

Azureen Turns 17

It's Azureen's birthday (3rd December).
By the way, this squirrel reminds me of her.
"You still look as cute as this without the specs LOL"

A Morning Tête-à-tête

Dad woke me up extremely early today…7.30 am, I was later compelled to get ready to head for breakfast. I only had 4 hours of sleep since I spend my night watching ‘Agent Cody Banks 2’. Grudgingly I took my shower to tag along with my parents down town for breakfast since mum doesn’t need to supervise for SPM today.

Great news occurring today, my dear friend Azureen’s birthday, Chiaw Jen will be back from Miri!!! Kimberly and Kelvin are back from vacation in China!!! It’s like a chain reaction.

Dad: Why do you have to dry yourself under the hot sun?

Me: *Moving my seat towards the middle seat of my dad’s vehicle* Sigh… Vitamin D you know.

Dad: You’ll get vitamin D and skin cancer.

Me: -_-“

Dad: Change your whatever song and play this, you should be listening to Christmas song la.

Me: *Sweat* is it a little TOO early for Christmas, besides Sum 41 songs are good.

Mum: Just play that Christmas song; if you don’t want to listen you can always cover your ears. And your rock songs are ear blasting. Where got nice?!

Me: *Attacked by both parents* Fine…

Me: Sigh… among all the songs why does it have to be ‘Silent Night’… mum change it…

Mum: Haiya, just listen to it, like I said if you don’t like this song cover your ears.

Me: *showing rancour once more*

Nickelback - Gotta Be Someone

This time
I wonder what it fells like
To find the one in this life
The one we all dream of
But dreams just tough enough
So I’ll be waiting for the real thing
I’ll know it by the feeling
The moment when we’re meeting
It’ll play out like a scene
Straight off the silver screen
So I’ll be holding my breath
Right up to the end
Until I move my way
I’ll find the one that I’ll spend forever with

Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
Everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There’s gotta be somebody for me like that
Cause nobody wants to do it on their own
Everyone wants to know they’re not alone
Somebody else that feels the same someway
There’s gotta be somebody for me out there

Tonight
Out on the street
Out in the moonlight
And dammit this feels too right
It’s just like déjàvu
Me standing here with you
So I’ll be holding my breath
Could this be the end?
Isn’t that movie where
I find the one that I spend forever with

Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
Everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There’s gotta be somebody for me like that
Cause nobody wants to do it on their own
Everyone wants to know they’re not alone
Somebody else that feels the same someway
There’s gotta be somebody for me out there

1st of December

It’s World AIDS Day,
Bernard and Alice had their account exam today.
Mum still has to supervise at SMK Tunku Abdul Razak.
Read ‘The Host’ by Stephenie Meyer,
Listened to Elliot Minor’s music.
A centipede appeared in mum’s room but daddy managed to terminate it.
Griped to Ling Ying that I felt like a living corpse at home,
She suggested on reading form 6 text books.
*SWEAT*
Another monotonous post for such a boring day.
Can’t wait for this weekend.
