Hansley Learned A New Term : Sukit

The teachers had their meeting once more, and I’m stuck again in the staffroom while waiting for my dad. Fiffy and Alicia appeared from the midst of air and soon I was preoccupied conferencing with them.

Fiffy: (Fingers pointing towards Mdm. Margaret’s name on a teacher’s list) I don’t want her to enter our class for Moral extra classes’ lah.

Me: Me too…I prefer your mom (Walk towards Alicia who was busy gobbling her packet of noodles).

Fiffy: Like just now, I was just asking Clarence what time it was and she took a pen and hit her on her head, scolding me as well. (Referring to mdm. Margeret).

Me: Ya lor…Insane teacher. Eh! You know what happened just now in our class? Mdm. Margeret hit Clarence on her head using a pen just because Fiffy ask her what time. Crazy huh?

Alicia: (making eye contacts and still eating her way through her noodles). Margeret Sukit?

Me: Ya la!

Alicia: You know what does “Sukit” mean in Bidayuh?

Me: What?

Alicia: It means scooping rice from a rice cooker (demonstrating). Right Fi?

Fiffy: (Expressing laughter) Yap.

Me: Ha? No wonder she is so fat and obese. Keep on sukit and sukit rice!!!! (laughter outbursting).

Alicia & Fiffy: (showing euphoric act).

Alicia: Keep on “sukitting rice” (still laughing).

Soon the teachers ended their meeting and Madam Rosemarry Jiea came towards us.

Alicia: Sukit means scooping right?

Mdm. Jiea: Yes. Sukit in Bidayuh means scooping rice like this (demonstrating to me).

Fiffy: You know what Hansley said? He said Margeret keep on sukit sukit rice that’s why she is so fat!!!

In lest than a second the drama began and everyone was infected by laugh powder…thanks to mua!!!!
